Jammu, June 26: President A P J Abdul Kalam today said Jammu and Kashmir government and the Centre were working on a policy for the quick and "dignified" return of Hindu migrants to the Kashmir valley. On a visit to the Muthu migrant camp here, Kalam told the Kashmiri Pandits "you should not worry as you have been (only) temporarily displaced. You will return to your homes in the valley in a dignified manner soon."

The President kept his date with the migrants despite running behind schedule and assured the displaced community of all possible help for their return to the valley.

The Centre and state governments were working on a policy for the return of the migrants, he said adding he had already talked to Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed and Central ministers in this regard.

"Something would be done about your return soon," he said.

Kalam assured the community that three major issues related to their return - cash relief, good houses and dignity - would be addressed immediately.

About the memorandum submitted to him by the migrants, he said "point 16 of the memorandum dealing with the return, relief and employment needed immediate attention".

"You definitely need immediate attention and healing touch to your wounds," Kalam said.
