Durban, Sept 04: South Africa is among the top 10 migration destinations in the world, with a significant percentage of skilled people from India, South African Migration Services (SAMS) said today. "A significant percentage of skilled people from India were among the thousands of foreigners who have already found themselves lucrative positions in it and other professional fields in South Africa," SAMS chairman David Dorfman said in an interview. Claiming Cape Town as the fifth most desirable city in the world to visit, Dorfman said, "It was becoming easier for foreigners to get temporary or permanent residency." "What we have noticed was that the market turned around about a year ago. That was when the government began encouraging skilled people to come here to start their own businesses," he said.
"It's good for the country. We must try to reverse the brain drain and encourage brain gain," Dorfman added.
We have about 280 people a month visiting our website to inquire about migration, he added. Bureau Report
