HC stays further proceedings in multi-crore scam case
Chennai, June 16: The madras high court today stayed till June 30 further proceedings in multi-crore scam pertaining to distribution of free school uniforms, dhotis and sarees to economically weaker sections in Tamil Nadu during AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa`s chief ministership between 1991 and 1996.

sarees to economically weaker sections in Tamil Nadu during AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa's chief ministership between 1991 and 1996.
The interim stay was granted by Justice P Sathasivam on an appeal filed by the Crime Branch of CID of the state police, seeking to set aside the special court's rejection of a petition to recall some witnesses to the stand in the case.
The judge also posted the petition for hearing on June 30.
Former Social Welfare Minister Indira Kumari, the prime accused, her personal assistant R Venkatakrishnan and four others, including two suppliers, are arraigned as accused in the case.
