Split in Congress in Nagaland, 7 MLAs form new party
Kohima, June 28: Four months after its electoral debacle in Nagaland, the state Congress today suffered another setback when seven MLAs broke away from the parent party and formed `Nagaland Congress`.

The seven MLAs met at Dimapur last night and decided to form the new party with former NPCC vice president Kaito as its president and former youth resources minister Wangyuh
Konyak as general secretary, a joint statement received here today said.
In the last assembly elections in February, the Congress lost the battle of ballots after ten years of uninterrupted rule. It, however, retained 21 seats in the 60-member house.
Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN), a conglomeration of four parties, took over the reins of the state from the Congress. The seven MLAs are T R Zeliang, Tokheho Yepthomi, Talinungsang, Doshehe Sema, Nyiemli Phom, Kaito Sema and Yangyuh Konyak. Bureau Report
