Balasore, July 07: Former Prime Minister Chandrasekhar today charged the NDA government at the Centre with complicating the Ayodhya issue by relying on outside forces for a solution. "I have deep regard for the Shankaracharya of Kanchi as a saint but his stand on the issue has made it more complicated," Chandrasekhar told reporters here.
The former Prime Minister, who is here to unveil a life-size statue of former Union Minister of State for External Affairs Samarendra Kundu, said he was surprised as to why and on what basis the government had relied upon the Kanchi seer to settle the Ayodhya issue. "There should be good intention and capacity to solve a problem but the present government has neither of them," he said. Claiming that he had made some headway towards solving the tangle during his short tenure as Prime Minister, Chandrasekhar regretted that his four successors never consulted him on the issue.
