Jodhpur, Sept 04: Rajasthan High Court today granted anticipatory bail to senior VHP leader Acharya Dharmendra in the case against him for making inflammatory speech in Bhilwara district of the state five months back. Justice D N Joshi gave the order after hearing pleas of Hastimal Saraswat, counsel of Dharmendra, a senior member of VHP's Marg Darshak Mandal.
Saraswat contended police registered an FIR against Dharmendra for giving inflammatory speech in Badnor town of Bhilwara district on March 1, 22 days after the event. Had the accused delivered inflammatory speech why was he not arrested immediately by the large police force present during the VHP meeting, he asked.
The VHP leader alleged the case was registered against Dharmendra because of political vendetta and that no crime had yet been proved against the petitioner. The high court, for the past two months, had been granting interim stay on the arrest of Dharmendra's whose anticipatory bail plea was earlier rejected by a Bhilwara court. Bureau Report
