Mumbai, Dec 08: Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) Chairman G N Bajpai has sought simplifications of regulatory norms to facilitate foreign institutional investors (FII) and venture capitalists (VC) to increasingly fund Indian companies. "An easing of regulatory norms will help the country receive more capital, especially in telecommunications, manufacturing, information technology and business process outsouring (BPO) sectors," Bajpai said in his inaugural address at `The 2003 Asian Venture Forum' here today.
However, the chairman did not pinpoint any regulatory norms that should be eased, stating that the market regulator's board "will look into the existing regulations and norms" and moot a proposal.
Later, speaking to reporters Bajpai said he is yet to get any suggestions on corporate governance (CG) report from the Infosys chief mentor and chairman N R Narayana Murthy.
The Infosys chief was supposed to frame rules and regulations for corporate governance and submit it to SEBI, which is to meet on Wednesday to discuss them.
