Government on Wednesday said it has substantial evidence of the links between People's War Group and Maoist Communist Centre (MCC) groups of naxalites, which were banned under Prevention of Terrorism Ordinance (POTO), and Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence.
“We have been keeping a close watch on their (PWG and MCC) terrorist activities and their ISI connection for quite some time now and also have substantial evidence against them, Minister of State for Home I D Swamy told a news channel. Asked what would be the effect of today's ban when MCC is already banned in Bihar and PWG in Andhra Pradesh, he said there was a lot of difference.
The law under which they were banned earlier does not allow freezing their accounts, attaching their properties and taking steps to stop financial aid to them. But under POTO it is possible, Swamy said. Bureau Report
