New Delhi, Mar 04: A day after utter confusion outside its mission, the Pakistan High Commission today started issuing visas to those wanting to visit the neighbouring country to watch cricket matches. A few hundred visas have already been issued today, a Pakistan mission spokesman told.
He said the visas were being issued to those Indian nationals, who were producing a computer printout of the tickets of the cricket matches, which will begin from March 13 with a one-dayer at Karachi.
The spokesman said more than 8000 Indian nationals were expected to be issued visas for the much-awaited cricket series being played between the two nations after a gap of 15 years. The Indian nationals will be issued match-specific visas, he added.

Long queues of visa-seekers were seen outside the Pakistani mission here for the second successive day today. Yesterday also, many cricket lovers had waited outside the high commission for hours to get visas but in vain.
Pakistani High Commission officials had stated that they did not have proper guidelines for issuing visas to those desiring to watch cricket matches.
The cricket series has generated a lot of interest in both countries. Yesterday, the external affairs ministry had convened a meeting of civil aviation and other ministries to discuss the management of transport for those visiting Pakistan.
The government has asked Indian Airlines (IA), the Railways and Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) to explore the possibilities of running extra services with their counterparts on the dates when the matches are to be played. Bureau Report
