Small charter plane crashes in Bahamas, killing one passenger
Bahamas, July 14: A small charter plane carrying nine passengers and a pilot crashed today in the Bahamas, killing a female passenger and leaving another person in critical condition, officials said. Nine were rescued.

A nine-seat Cessna 402 operated by air sunshine crashed in the waters 14 kilometers west of the airport in Treasure Cay, Bahamas, said Moe Adili, the airline`s director of operations.
The pilot the lone crew member reported trouble with the right engine at about 3:35 pm (0105 IST) before all contact was lost, Adili said by telephone from Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The plane took off from Fort Lauderdale at 2:35 pm (0005 IST), he said. There were four children and five adults aboard, Adili said.
Adili did not confirm any deaths, but the US Coast Guard said a good samaritan recovered the body of an unidentified female passenger.
Two coast guard helicopters and a jet participated in the rescue of the eight other passengers and the pilot, spokeswoman petty officer Anastasia Burns said.
Moments before the crash, the pilot issued a mayday call, which was picked up by another plane in the vicinity and relayed to the federal aviation administration, Burns said.
Eight people were being treated at Rand Memorial Hospital in Freeport, said Earnestine Brennen, an emergency medical services official. It wasn`t immediately clear where the ninth survivor was being treated.
