Chandigarh, July 28: The CPI would demonstrate on July 28 against Punjab government's "submission" to the dictates of international agencies, a party official said today.

Party activists will participate in the demonstration to express their anguish at the "irreparable loss" to economy of the state by following dictates of World Bank, IMF and WTO, state CPI secretary Joginder Dayal said in a statement here after a meeting. The state government was trying to obtain huge debt worth thousands of crores from World Bank for so-called electricity reforms, which means breaking into pieces and privatising Punjab State Electricity Board, he said.

Dayal said the state government levied electricity and water charges on farmers to please the World Bank.
He said the CPI will agitate against the "anti-people, anti-national and pro-imperialist policies" pursued by the state government and state executive and state council of the party will meet here on July 25 and 27 to chalk out detailed programme.
