New Delhi, May 25: Soon after the crisis over portfolio allocation to Congress-ally DMK ended today, finance minister P Chidambaram said he would have no problem working with a DMK member S S Palani Manickam as his deputy in the ministry. "He (Manickam) is a friend of mine. There will be no problem working with him as minister of state for finance," Chidambaram said making it clear that there would be only one minister of state in the ministry with one looking after revenue and another insurance.
The crisis that plagued the three-day old Manmohan Singh government blew over today after the Prime Minister decided to allocate the promised ministries to DMK, and all its seven ministers are expected to take charge tomorrow.
The breakthrough came after TRS chief and Union minister K Chandrasekhara Rao met the Prime Minister and told him that his portfolio of shipping could be reallocated to DMK.
Manickam is expected to assume office tomorrow.
