Saifai, Uttar Pradesh, Feb 17: President A P J Abdul Kalam has called for urbanising about 7,000 groups in six lakh villages in the country to provide employment to 1,500 to 2,000 members from each group with the latest technological knowledge. Inaugurating seven projects worth Rs 170 crore here, the President said his vision towards making India a developed nation by 2020 would be achieved when the target of urbanising six lakh villages in the country could be met. He said these villages should be divided into 7,000 groups to look for new opportunities of development, according to an official release issued. He stressed on such education which would help people start their own self-employment businesses and said loans should be available to them through banks on low interest rate. Kalam laid the foundation of the Etawah-Mainpuri rail line project, 100-bed hospital, Saifai sewage system project, water project, state-level sports complex, besides a couple of other small projects. On the occasion, the President, while addressing a public gathering, expressed hope that the rail line project would provide better connectivity to Saifai and help in its development, besides about 2,000 villages getting connected through the railways. He also said the new sports stadium would serve as a boon to the young sportspersons who would get an opportunity for training and excelling in their field of sports. Bureau Report
