Festival of India in Trinidad and Tobago in September
Port of Spain, Aug 10: Indian consumer products, traditional culinary delights and fashion apparel will be showcased at a festival of India to be held here with the aim of boosting business ties between India and Trinidad and Tobago.
Port of Spain, Aug 10: Indian consumer products, traditional culinary delights and fashion apparel will be showcased at a festival of India to be held here with the aim of boosting business ties between India and Trinidad and Tobago.
Coming on the heels of festivals organised in Mauritius and South Africa, the event, being organised by the International Association of Mother India clubs, will be held here from September 5 to 15, 2003.
Indian High Commissioner Virendra Gupta told reporters here that the objective of the event is to foster greater affinity between the two nations, promote awareness about the range of products available from India at competitive prices and to forge business links to further boost the growing bilateral trade and commerce. The festival will have three components, Arun Singh, president of the international group, said.
It will comprise a trade fair with over 40 Indian entrepreneurs who would display Indian consumer goods. There will be food festival, which would feature Indian sweets like 'gulab jamun', 'rasgullas' and 'son papdi'. A team of chefs would be flown in to serve out Indian culinary delights, including 'tandoori' dishes, 'rotis' and 'biriyanis'.
A fashion show, which will be also be held, which will have former Miss India Mehar Bhasin along with other Indian models displaying Indian fashion wear on the ramp.
This show comes after a very successful festival of India activities organised by the Indian high commission to mark the 158th anniversary of Indian arrival day here last May. Bureau Report
