Kathmandu, Oct 19: Economic cooperation, reducing the trade gap and increasing Chinese investment in Nepal were some of the issues which were discussed in the just-concluded secretary-level talks between the two countries here. While China was represented by Vice Minister at the Foreign Ministry Wang Yi, the Nepalese delegation was led by Foreign Secretary Madhuraman Acharya, Nepalese Foreign Ministry officials said adding this was the fifth consultative meet since the setting up of consultative mechanism in 1996.
Extending strong political support to Kathmandu, the two sides also discussed opening up of two new trade routes besides the existing two.
The two countries have also agreed to expedite bilateral co-operation in the areas of trade, tourism, investment and education, the officials said adding issues relating to economic co-operation, reducing the trade gap, promoting tourism, increasing Chinese investment and providing a Chinese scholarship to Nepalese students also came up.
