Dhar, Feb 09: Former Union minister and BJP Madhya Pradesh election campaign in-charge Uma Bharti here today demanded opening the locks of disputed bhojshala and described the 1997 decision to close it as totally wrong.

Talking to reporters here, Bharti said that the disciplined turnout at bhojshala on Basant Panchmi indicated that the decision to lock it was wrong and added that if the state government writes to Centre about the law and order situation then Centre will open the locks. On Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijay Singh's demand to ban bajrang dal and Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), bharti said the two organisations cannot be compared as Dal is known for its nationalistic activities while SIMI is engaged in anti-national activities.

The BJP leader alleged that the Chief Minister is raising these issues to divert people's attention from the basic issue of power and roads and added that he (CM) will not solve the issue of Bhojshala as in this region he does not have any issue except communal issues.
Bharti also supported the ultimatum given by Hindu Jagran Manch (HJM) for opening the locks of Bhojshala by February 10.

She refused to answer queries related to her brother Swami Prasad Lodhi, who was suspended last month after he reportedly said he would join Congress before the next assembly polls in the state.
