Sydney, Sept 16: India and Australia are set to expand cooperation in the field of mining and exploration even as Australian companies have evinced interest in mining of precious metals in India to a high-level delegation led by Minister of State for Mines Ramesh Bais. India has sought technological cooperation from Australia in mining and exploration and the two countries are also planning at exchanging technicians in geo-science, Bais, who is here on a 10-day visit, said.

"We are also seeking collaboration on setting up a transparent online system on mining information and comprehensive departmental and ministerial clearance.
Australians have a transparent online system and we can learn from their experience," Bais said. India can also learn from the systematic mine closure plan followed in Australia, which avoids adverse impact on the community, the minister said.
During the visit, that began on September nine, Bais has met senior ministerial and government officials in Perth, Sydney and Brisbane. The ministerial visit is being seen as an opportunity to attract investments from Australian and NRI entrepreneurs. Bureau Report
