BSP dares govt to prove charges against Mayawati
New Delhi, Oct 14: Describing media reports on alleged properties owned by former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati as `motivated and baseless`, BSP leader Rashid Alvi today challenged the government to come out with supporting documents to prove that they belonged to her.
New Delhi, Oct 14: Describing media reports on alleged properties owned by former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati as "motivated and baseless", BSP leader Rashid Alvi today challenged the government to come out with supporting documents to prove that they belonged to her.
"BJP is carrying out a canard to defame Mayawati. Instead of planting stories in the media, the Vajpayee government should come out with documents to support these claims. They can also take over these properties to prove these belong to Mayawati," he told reporters here.
Alvi said all these developments were taking place as the BJP leadership and the government were acting with a "feeling of vengeance and the BJP has become a frustrated party" which would be routed in the coming assembly polls as well as the general elections next year.
All assets and income of Mayawati "are on record with the Income Tax Department" and if the CBI raids properties of her relatives, "it is not her botheration as she has no connection with these properties".
Asked whether BSP would tie up with congress before the upcoming assembly polls or whether the two parties were holding any parleys on that count, Alvi said that his party had an "open mind" in case any such proposal came from Congress.
"There is no such proposal from our side, but if there is any proposal from their (Congress) side, we will be ready to consider it. We have an open mind on the issue," Alvi said.
