Washington, Oct 27: Comedian and actress Lily Tomlin was honored at a Washington ceremony on Sunday for making Americans laugh. Tomlin was feted by entertainers such as Dave Chappelle, Jane Fonda and Dolly Parton at the Kennedy Center when she received its Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.
Comedian George Lopez, another to honor Tomlin, remembered her appearances on "Laugh-In" when he was a child. "She (also) did some stuff with Richard Pryor that were among the best comedy moments ever," he said, describing her as a great comic who was very soulful.
Tomlin, a Detroit-born television, film and theater star, has received several Emmys as well as a Tony award for her one-woman Broadway show "Appearing Nitely." Bureau Report
