The Chhattisgarh-unit treasurer of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and an industrialist, Avtar Singh Jaggi, was shot dead by unidentified assailants in early June this year. He was shot around midnight near the Mohdapara police station when he was going home. The gunmen broke the windshield of his car before fleeing on their four-wheeler Following this incident, NCP chief, V C Shukla, alleged involvement of his bete noire Ajit Jogi and his son in this case. The controversy surrounding Jaggi killing deepened when V C Shukla alleged that police had ``planned`` the surrender of an industrialist, Yahya Debar in the case. Shukla made public the fact that Yahya Debar was a businessman and has close association with Congress and Chief Minister Ajit Jogi and his son. But to this incident, Jogi stated that he was open to a CBI or judicial inquiry in Jaggi murder case.
