Bahraich, Sept 05: Additional security forces have been deployed along the Indo-Nepal border in Uttar Pradesh in view of the spurt in Maoist activities in Nepal, a senior police official said today. Superintendent of Police Raja Srivastava told reporters here that PAC had been deployed on the Indian side of the border in the district to assist the central forces in view of reports of rise in Maoist activities, including loot, dacoity and murders, in villages on the Nepali side of the border.

"The step has been necessitated to ward off chances of Maoist activists taking refuge in the Indian territory after committing crime in their homeland or indulging in criminal acts on this side of the border", Srivastava added. PAC personnel have been deployed in Rupaideeha, Murtiha and Sujauli Police Station areas to carry out night patrolling and combing in the forest areas in no man's land, he said. Bureau Report
