Jaipur, Aug 09: Charging the Rajasthan government of "playing political games" by approving job reservations for economically backward among the upper castes, the All India Kayastha Mahasabha today demanded 33 per cent reservation in jobs for members of their community.
"If reservation to upper castes on economic basis is not possible Kayasthas, who for generations solely depended on government jobs, should be given 33 per cent reservation, mahasabha president Radhey Shyam Mathur said.
The Rajasthan government, by passing a resolution for job reservations for economically backward among the upper castes was merely "playing political games", Mathur charged. The organisation had already sent nearly six lakh post cards to the prime minister demanding quota for Kayasthas and the process was still on, he claimed.
"Although we are of the opinion that reservation should be completely scrapped as it was creating caste divide but till it stays all others should also be included in quota category on economic basis," the mahasabha president said in a statement here.
