Jakarta, June 24: A US journalist whom the Indonesian military suspected was a spy handed himself over to the army today after spending several weeks with separatist rebels in Aceh province. "I can confirm that he has surrendered himself at 10:20 (0850 IST) in the Simpang area in North Aceh district," military operations spokesman Ditya Sudarsono said from Banda Aceh. A radio report said that the freelance reporter, William Nessen, "surrendered" himself to Brigadier General Bambang Darmono, head of the military operation in Aceh.
