Raipur, Nov 13: Four out of 14 BJP MLAs who defected from the party and joined the Congress have failed to be nominated as candidates for the December 01 Assembly
polls in Chhattisgarh.
The four who defected from BJP and who have now been
denied a Congress ticket for the assembly elections include
Sohan Lal, Rani Ratnamala and Paresh Agarwal.
At the time of his defection, Sohan Lal had said that he was leaving BJP as the party had threatened that he would not be given a ticket for the assembly polls. Paresh Agarwal was made a personal assistant to the Chief Minister, Ajit Jogi with cabinet status but for his Bagbahara constituency, the congress ticket has been given to Bhikha Ram Sahu whom he had defeated in November 1998.
The moral of this is that defection does not necessarily pay for someone hoping to contest the assembly elections in Chhattisgarh. Bureau Report
