Srinagar, July 16: Security arrangements in and around J&K Assembly complex has been beefed up for the four-day special session beginning today. The state administration has been under tremendous pressure after the terrorist strike in Jammu that left 27 persons dead Saturday night. The sources said authorities have left nothing to chance and have made adequate security arrangements to avoid any untoward incident like last year's suicide attack. Forty persons were killed and nearly 100 injured when militants attacked the assembly complex on October 1, last year.
A joint security drill was conducted by BSF and police at the assembly complex early today. The roads leading to the complex were blocked and the nearby areas searched, they said.
Police and paramilitary personnel were seen frisking pedestrians and patrolling lanes and bylanes, sources said adding security forces have set up additional pickets in and around the assembly complex to maintain close vigil. Bureau Report
