Itanagar, Aug 20: The eighth session of the Arunachal Assembly will begin from tomorrow amidst elaborate security arrangements with the All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) threatening to stage a dharna around the assembly complex during the three-day session, official sources said today.

The AAPSU gave the squat call in protest against the expected tabling of Arunachal Pradesh Control of Organised Crime Ordinance (APCOCO) during the session. The house is likely to take up a few key issues including enactment of the APCOCO and amendment of various clauses of the Sales Tax Act, after recent approval by the state cabinet.

Official sources said tight security arrangements were being taken in and around the assembly complex to prevent any untoward incident. Meanwhile, a memorandum signed by various organisations including opposition Arunachal Congress (AC), BJP, NCP besides AAPSU, Arunachal Pradesh Women Welfare Society, Arunachal Chamber of Commerce, NEFA Indigenous Human Rights Organisation (NIHRO) have been submitted to state governor Arvind Dave requesting him not to give assent to the APCOCO yesterday.
