Mumbai, Sept 01: In persuance of further probe into the high-profile film financier Bharat Shah's links with underworld dons, police and intelligence agencies would keep watch on the diamond merchant during his visit to Belgium to attend marriage ceremonies of his relatives, official sources said here.

It is a well-known case and about 1000 people are going from mumbai to attend two marriage ceremonies of Shah's relatives, sources said. Key intelligence agencies and police have been asked to keep watch on Shah and his meetings and interactions at Antwerp, otherwise known as diamond capital of the world, the source said.

Mumbai Police on August 27 returned passport to Shah after he filed an application in keeping with a Supreme Court directive. Shah, who reportedly also financed latest blockbuster Devdas, is facing the charge of developing links with the underworld to target film personalities for personal gains. Police claim to have intercepted his telephonic talks with Pakistan-based gangster Chhota Shakeel which allegedly reveal the nexus of Bollywood with underworld.

Sources also said that alleged nexus between film personalities and the underworld continued with a few of them getting business like telephone calls. Bureau Report
