Inquiry ordered into food poisoning
Jorhat (Assam), Aug 06: An administrative inquiry was ordered today into the food poisoning case in Majuli, the world`s largest river island, where 265 devotees were taken ill after consuming Prasad, official sources said here.

Jorhat deputy commissioner Dr Ravi Kota has ordered the
inquiry to be headed by a magistrate.
A team of district administration officials, including a a food inspector left for the island to inquire into the incident, the sources said.
The people complained of vomiting and stomach upsets after they consumed bananas as part of the Prasad at Hari Mandir after a Naam-Kirtan (prayers).
Seven persons, including three women were admitted to
kamalabari hospital and most of the victims were released
after first aid while the rest were treated in the village.
