Rawalpindi, Dec 05: Pakistan today recalled middle order batsman Younis Khan to their 16-man squad for the tour of New Zealand starting later this month. The 26-year-old Younis, who has played 28 Tests and 96 one-day internationals, was dropped after failing to score prominently in the series against South Africa this year.
Also back in the team is opener Taufiq Umer, who was rested for the five-match series against New Zealand due to a knee injury, chief selector Aamir Sohail said.
However, the selectors excluded former captain Rashid Latif from the squad.
Pakistans last tour to New Zealand in 2001 resulted in the sacking of captain Moin Khan and coach Javed Miandad after Pakistan lost the one-day series 2-3 and squared the three-match test series 1-1.
Azhar Mahmood will join the team for the five-match one-day series, which followed the two-match Test series.
