Srinagar, Aug 13: Four militants were killed, a top Hizbul Mujahideen militant arrested and a big cache of arms and explosives seized in separate operations by security forces in Kashmir valley since last night, official sources said today. Two heavily-armed militants, believed to be Pakistani infiltrators, were killed in an encounter with army at Tandapani near the Line of Control in Kupwara district, the sources said.
Two AK assault rifles, seven magazines, 150 rounds, 90 anti-personnel mines, one sealed box of AK ammunition and five hand grenades were recovered from the deceased militants.
The militants were confronted by the troops of 21 Jat regiment during search of the area, continuing in the sector for the past one week following an infiltration attempt by a group of militants.
In another encounter, the sources said security forces killed two unidentified militants during search operations at Kangloo in Tral area of Pulwama district.
The operation was still continuing and further details are awaited, the sources said.
Security forces apprehended a self-styled company commander of Hizbul Mujahideen, Ghulam Hassan Mir from Chowkibal area of Kupwara district. An AK rifle, its two magazines, 30 rounds, five kg of explosives and two detonators were recovered from the captured militant. Bureau Report
