New Delhi, Feb 01: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP)
today demanded immediate withdrawal of hike in telephone rates
and extended support to the employees of public sector
undertakings protesting against the disinvestment in HPCL and
BPCL.
"The statement by the Disinvestment Minister Arun Shourie
on the corporate sector interference in the telecom
administration is a serious matter and is the real reason
behind the increase in the landline rates of MTNL," the
party said in a statement.
It expressed concern over the recent observations by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) questioning the gross under valuation of the assets of the PSUs being divested as this lends credential to the allegations of corruption behind the disinvestment spree of the BJP-led NDA government.
