Beijing, July 25: Typhoon Imbudo, which struck south China's Guangdong province, affected more than 1.8 million people and left one missing, an official report said today. Preliminary figures from hard-hit Yangjiang City indicated that Imbudo destroyed 1,479 houses there yesterday. It also affected 39,536 acres of farmland, cut off 12 county-level highways and halted the operations of 326 large industrial houses. The city's total direct economic losses are estimated to be at least 580 million Yuan (70 million US dollars).

In Maoming City, economic losses are estimated at more than 300 million Yuan (36 million dollars), including 660 destroyed dwellings and 140,000 hectares of devastated farmland. Meanwhile, parts of Zhanjiang city were hit by a hailstorm, claiming three lives and leaving 16 injured.
