Denpasar, Nov 13: Indonesian police have begun an investigation to trace the origin of firearms and ammunition which they believe belonged to Amrozi, a key suspect in the last months's Bali bombing case. "Investigations are still being conducted to establish their origin," chief investigator police inspector general made Mang Ku Pastika said here yesterday.

He said police was probing into the case to know why and how Amrozi and his friends got the arms. The firearms and ammunition were found on Monday buried in a forest area in alas Dadapan of Lamongan in East Java, about 3.5 kilometers from Amrozi's house.

The recovered arms, which were kept in 1.5-meter-long PVC pipes, included two m-16 rifles, two Les, one AR-15 type A2 rifle, two FN pistols and 5,080 rounds of ammunition mostly 5.6 mm for M-16 rifles. Besides, the police had also found military uniforms, passport belonging to Amrozi, a number of identity cards and other items, he said.
