By-elections for 11 Assembly seats will be held in eight states today. One of the most crucial contests is in Marwahi in the newly created state of Chattisgarh.

The election scene in Marwahi hotted up on Monday with Chhattisgarh chief minister and Congress candidate Ajit Jogi accusing opposition BJP of trying to seek votes for the by-polls to be held tomorrow in the name of lord ram, while the latter expressed fear of large scale rigging by the Congress.
“BJP is seeking votes in the name of lord ram,” Jogi said in Marwahi, accusing BJP of campaigning allegedly on caste basis and urged the Election Commission (EC) to probe the matter.
