Palermo, July 13: Dinara Safina won eight straight games to defeat Ludmila Cervanova and book her place in the final of the Palermo International.
The Russian, who won 6-4 6-0, will now meet fourth-seed Katarina Srebotnik after she overcame Spain's Anabel Medina Garrigues.
Safina, the 17-year-old sister of Russian star Marat Safin, reached her first final since she won the Polish Open and became the WTA Tour's youngest ever champion.
Ranked 60th in the WTA computer lists, Safina downed her Slovakian opponent in 62 minutes in their semi-final match in the searing heat of the Sicilian capital.
The winner of Sunday's final will pocket a prize of $16,000.
