Imphal, July 25: Protesting Manipur assembly speaker T N Haokip's alleged use of "unparliamentary language", the opposition members in the house today covered their mouths with black cloth and refused to participate in discussions. The opposition members, who staged a walkout last evening complaining Haokip had given more time to ruling side, said the speaker's reported remarks "you sit down" to opposition members during current session were "unparliamentary".
Haokip should instead have used the words, "please take your seat", they said.
As soon as the house assembled today, Haokip said he was "very sorry" for yesterday's walkout of the opposition members and urged the members to remove pieces of clothes from their mouths and participate in the discussion.

However, opposition members continued to cover their mouths and did not participate in the discussion.
The routine business, however, went on as per the schedule and was over in about 25 minutes after which the speaker adjourned the house till Monday. Bureau Report
