Defence, Naval service exam papers to be printed in Hindi also

New Delhi, Sept 11: Combined Defence Service, National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination question papers will be printed in both English and Hindi.
The Union Cabinet, which met here today, approved the proposal of printing in Hindi and English the question papers of general knowledge and mathematics of the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy conducted by the Union Public Service Commission, an official spokesperson said.
The general knowledge and elementary mathematics question papers of combined defence services examination would also be printed in both English and Hindi, he said. There would, however, be no change in the objective-type English language paper, he added.
The Kendriya Hindi Samiti, at its meeting in September 06, 2002, decided that the department of personnel and training should immediately take follow up action on its recommendations that an option for hindi be given in National Defence Academy and Combined Defence Services examination.
The Ministry of Defence earlier had approached department of personnel and training at the minister's level suggesting the alternate medium. "The Combined Defence Services Examination, National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examinsations conducted by UPSC are objective-type in nature and the candidates is required to tick mark one of the options," the spokesperson said.
