UPA to release Common Minimum Programme today
New Delhi, May 27: The ruling United Progressive Alliance (UPA) will release its Common Minimum Programme (CMP) today to ensure the smooth functioning of the Dr Manmohan Singh`s government.
New Delhi, May 27: The ruling United Progressive Alliance (UPA) will release its Common Minimum Programme (CMP) today to ensure the smooth functioning of the Dr Manmohan Singh’s government.
On Wednesday, all members of the alliance reached an agreement on CMP, with Left also agreeing to endorse it. A broad consensus was reached at a meeting at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s residence.
The CMP is believed to have been drafted after taking into consideration sensitivities of all alliance members. A proposed co-ordination committee will meet every fortnight to oversee its implementation.
Among the major points that find a place in the draft are:
No divestment in strategic sector or in profit making PSUs
PDS system to be strengthened
Comprehensive law tackling communal violence
Governemt not to allow hire-and-fire policy
