New Delhi, Oct 23: Ahead of the Supreme Court hearing of the contempt petition filed by Tamil Nadu tomorrow, a farmers leader from Karnataka today said that farmers of his state will not allow release of water whatever be the decision of the court.
"If the Krishna government deviates from the stand of not releasing water to Tamil Nadu, there will be more serious consequences", Y K Ramaiya, president of Tumukuru Jilla Hemavathy Nala Achukattudarara Vedike, told reporters here today.
Meanwhile, the chief minister, who is camping here since yesterday, met congress president Sonia Gandhi to explain the aspects of the contempt petition.

"Meditate for rains", a visibly tense Krishna said refusing to comment on the issue.
Ramaiya, a sitting MLA in the Karnataka legislature, said that he had filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court yesterday seeking stay of the Cauvery River Authority which directed Karnataka to release 9,000 cusecs of water per day to Tamil Nadu.

Accusing Tamil Nadu of blocking construction of dams in Karnataka since 1804, he questioned as to how could Tamil Nadu demand water from these Karnataka dams.
He said that Centre also could not direct Karnataka to release water as it did not finance the construction of the dams in Karnataka.

Nanje Gowda, former irrigation minister, said that the state should file a petition in the apex court seeking the accountability of water released by Karnataka as Tamil Nadu was "manipulating the figures".
