New Delhi, Oct 14: Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today sought cooperation of the media to achieve the goal of transforming India into a developed country by 2020. "India is moving fast ahead on the road of development. We have declared our goal of making India a developed country by 2020," he said after releasing a book in memory of Narendra Mohan, late chief editor of Hindi daily 'Jagaran' and a postage stamp dedicated to him.

"With changing time, there have been changes in journalism too. I would like the media to help achieve the goal of turning the country into a developed one," he said but added that cooperation from the media should not be construed as his seeking that government alone be eulogised.

Recalling his nearly four decades of association with Mohan, who passed away last year at the age of 68, Vajpayee said the late editor was a multifarious personality and did not allow politics to interfere in his role as a journalist.
An editor, poet, philosopher, social worker and philanthropist, Mohan as a Rajya Sabha MP was at ease while speaking on major issues including country's foreign policy, Vajpayee said recalling that he had made substantial contribution towards opening the newspaper world to foreign direct investment.
