Shourie terms outsourcing as `partnership`
New Delhi, Mar 14: Union IT And Telecom Minister Arun Shourie said that outsourcing has greatly helped companies, mainly from the United States, and firms like Hewlett Packard have taken a lead over their counterparts in Europe.
New Delhi, Mar 14: Union IT And Telecom Minister Arun Shourie said that outsourcing has greatly helped companies, mainly from the United States, and firms like Hewlett Packard have taken a lead over their counterparts in Europe.
The real meaning of outsourcing is partnership, Shourie said.
Shourie said that US firms have saved nearly 60 billion dollars.
According to a Mckinsey report, ``this will have a multiplier effect on the US economy and would greatly help its growth.`` Shourie said that there have been joint agreements between the two countries where there will be exchanges of young IT professionals among the two countries.
In fact, as concern over the loss of jobs overseas intensifies, some companies are promoting their decision not to hire workers in other countries to replace US employees.
However, many companies that do outsource jobs are not worried. Just 11 per cent believed it hurt their brand image, according to a 2004 survey by Hewitt associates. Bureau Report
