Itanagar, May 11: State-owned National Hydroelectric Power Corporation plans to invest over Rs 150,000 crore over the next few years to add around 25,000 mw of generation capacity in Arunachal Pradesh. "We propose to add 25,000 mw of power generation capacity in the north eastern state at an estimated cost of over Rs 150,000 crore," chairman and managing director Yogender Prasad told reporters here.
Prasad said the Corporation was in the process of seeking approvals for as many as seven greenfield projects in the Siang, Subnasiri and Dibang basins.
Amongst the projects planned are upper Siang (11,000 mw), middle Siang (1,000 mw), lower Siang (1700 mw) along with Dibang (3,000 mw).
Upper, middle and lower Subansiri projects would add another 5,600 mw, Prasad said.
The corporation is expected to bag cabinet clearance for lower Subansiri project by middle of this year while other projects are at various stages of approval.
Simultaneously the corporation has started work on several micro hydel projects for state government on a turnkey basis including Kambang and Sippy projects which would also help provide power to start construction of bigger projects. Bureau Report
