New Delhi, Apr 23: The Delhi High Court today deferred the hearing on a petition opposing the opening of a slaughter house in East Delhi directing the petitioner to appear before it to explain his locus standi for approaching the court. A bench comprising Chief Justice B C Patel and Justice A K Sikri directed the petitioner S C Jain to appear before it on Monday. Jain, claiming to be a social worker, has filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) objecting to the opening of a slaughter house in Ghazipur in East Delhi bordering Ghaziabad contending that it would be the major source of pollution and epidemic in the Trans-Yamuna region in the capital.
The petitioner has brought to the notice that Airforce station, Hindon, Ghaziabad was only four kms away from the sit of the proposed slaughter house which would always pose threat of aircraft accident caused due to bird hit.

The PIL has apprehended violation of various laws related to animals and environment giving reference of other slaughter house in the capital where the Delhi government and MCD has failed to adhere despite the court orders. Bureau Report
