Mumbai, July 24: Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi, who developed lung complications following an operation on his fractured leg, was on Wednesday transferred to "normal ward" in the Hinduja Hospital here even as his doctor said 'he is recovering well'.
Vivek had been transferred to normal ward from ICU and 'was recovering as anticipated', orthopaedic surgeon Dr Sanjay Agarwala, who is attending on him, said.
"Vivek's condition is improving and all necessary precautions are being taken", Agarwala said.
In a related development, Vivek issued a statement from the hospital thanking his fans and friends for showing concern about his health.
"I was very scared due to lung complications, remaining in ICU, the bleeding lungs, oxygen mask and gasping breath that made me lose hope. However, I recovered miraculously thanks to your prayers", Vivek told his fans and friends.
Vivek had suffered multiple fractures in his leg during the shooting of a film in Kolkata last week and was admitted to Hinduja hospital for a leg surgery. He was later shifted to ICU following pain and shortness of breath.
Doctors suspected that fat from the bone marrow had entered the blood stream and had filtered through the lung causing breathlessness.
"His wounds are drying and healing well. He is able to mobilise his legs and we anticipate he will ambulate, lung condition permitting", the doctor said.
Vivek had been put on an oxygen mask after he began complaining of difficulty in breathing.
