Colombo, July 06: Relatives have protested the
slaying of a former tamil militant by taking his coffin to the
offices of Scandinavians monitoring a ceasefire between the
government and the LTTE, officials said today.
They said the relatives were protesting against
inaction by the SLMM, a group of Scandinavians monitoring the
truce that went into effect from February 23 last year. He was
killed the day before.
The slaying of Justin, a member of the People's
Liberation Organisation Of Tamil Eelam (PLOTE), a former
militant group which has entered mainstream politics, was
blamed on the Liberation Tigers Of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).
The LTTE is accused of using the truce to carry out
attacks against rival tamils and members of the military and
police intelligence units. Some 37 people have been killed
allegedly by the LTTE since the ceasefire.
