Chittagong (Bangladesh), Oct 29: Bangladesh seamer Mashrafe Mortaza grabbed two quick wickets to restrict England to 188-4 at tea on the opening day of the second and final cricket test here today. Former skipper Nasser Hussain was batting on 21 and Rikki Clarke on 33 at the break.
Marcus Trescothick (60) and captain Michael Vaughan (54) had put on 126 for the opening wicket before Bangladesh fought back with four wickets for eight runs to reduce the tourists to 134-4 in the afternoon session.
Mortaza removed Vaughan and Graham Thorpe in the space of three deliveries, while left-arm spinner Mohammad Rafique and Seamer Khaled Mahmud took one wicket apiece.
Trescothick hit five fours and three sixes, two off left-arm spinner Enamul Haque junior and one off Rafique.
The left-hander began to freely play shots after a slow start but fell to a rash stroke. He plundered 14 in one over off Haque, but was soon after caught at point off Mahmud.
Mark Butcher played inside the line of a Rafique delivery and was bowled for six, while Vaughan was caught behind off Mortaza.
Mortaza then removed Thorpe two balls later for no score, justifying his skipper Mahmud's decision to put England into bat after winning the toss.
Bangladesh retained the team that lost the opening test by seven wickets at Dhaka last week, while England made two changes.
England seamer Martin Saggers made his test debut and Richard Johnson was also brought in to strengthen the pace attack. They replaced off-spinner Gareth Batty and an injured Stephen Harmison.
