There was no let up in the overall flood situation in Bihar with major rivers in spate while two more deaths were reported from Gopalganj district, taking the toll to 45.
The situation was likely to worsen further in north Bihar following torrential rains in the catchment areas of the rivers emanating from Nepal during the past 24 hours, MET office sources said, adding Bihar was likely to record heavy to very high rains in next 24 hours.
Chief minister Rabri Devi, accompanied by her husband and RJD president Laloo Prasad Yadav, undertook an aerial survey of flood-affected districts on Friday and directed the district authorities to take steps to intensify relief operations.
The situation remained grim in flood-hit Gopalgunj, east Champaran, west Champaran, Madhubani, Darbhanga and Begusarai districts following rise in water level of rivers like Burhi Gandak, Gandak, Kosi, Bagmati and Adhwara groups of rivers.
State relief and rehabilitation department sources said two more deaths were reported from the worst-hit Gopalgunj district in the last 24 hours, taking the toll in the recent spate of floods in the state to 45.
