vehicles last month as demand in Australia and South East Asia
increased.
Overseas sales of pick up trucks, Sedan cars and other
vehicles rose to 20,370 units from 19,456 a year earlier,
according to the Thai automotive club, a Bangkok-based trade
group making up most of the country's automakers.
The value of exports rose 4.5 per cent to 8.9 billion Baht (218 million US dollar). Thailand is relying on overseas shipments of automobiles, rubber and other products to maintain the country's economic growth at a target of 7 per cent this year, as rising oil prices may slow consumer spending at home. In the first four months of the year, automobiles and parts were Thailand's biggest export products by value after computer parts and electrical appliances, according to the Commerce Ministry's data. General motors, Honda Motor and other overseas manufacturers have increased production at their Thai plants as faster economic growth in the region increases demand for automobiles. Bureau Report
