Agartala, July 06: Two jawans of the Tripura State Rifles (TSR) were killed and five others injured in a landmine blast triggered by suspected insurgents of the banned All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) at Baijalbari in west Tripura district, police said today. The blast took place this morning at around 6.30 am when two TSR vehicles were passing through the insurgency hit Khowai police station area, they said.
Head constable Asit Saha and driver Pradip Das died on the spot and five other jawans were seriously injured, police said, adding the injured have been shifted to Khowai hospital.
The first vehicle of the patrolling party was badly damaged under the impact of the blast, they said. TSR and CRPF have jointly launched a search operation in the area to track down the ultras.

Yesterday, five jawans of CRPF were wounded, two of them seriously in a landmine blast at Baramaidan area of the same Khowai subdivision of west Tripura district.
