New Delhi, May 15: JMM today handed over to Congress president Sonia Gandhi its letter of support to a coalition government led by her. "We have given our letter of support to Sonia Gandhi," JMM supremo Sibu Soren told reporter after his 45-minute meeting with the Congress president at her residence.

He said that JMM will be a part of the government but parried questions whether any specific portfolio was discussed. Extending full support to the Congress-led government under the prime ministership of Sonia, Soren said, "It was now her responsibility to run the government efficiently."

He said that shortly a common minimum programme for the secular alliance would be worked out.

A jubiliant Soren, JMM parliamentary party leader, said the JMM-Congress alliance had sounded the death-knell for the Saffron Party in Jharkhand.
JMM has won five seats in Lok Sabha -- four from Jharkhand and one from Orissa.
